HISTORY

J. Fred Hambright, Inc. has been operating in the oilfields throughout the Midwest for 70-years. We have withstood the test of time in an industry that sees many come and go. We have accomplished this by maintaining our integrity and staying true to our word. At JFH, the handshake still carries the trust and promise that it once did, and we value our honest reputation.

As the world’s energy needs, sources, and technology change, so have the services at JFH. Expanding on our deep roots in the oil and gas industry, we now provide solar and wind leasing, carbon capture/sequestration, battery storage, and transmission/gen-tie right of way services. At JFH we will continue to keep our eyes on the future, while always honoring the past. If it is energy and/or land, it is J. Fred Hambright, Inc.

The Founder

J. Fred Hambright

John Frederick Hambright, III (J. Fred), was born and raised in Roby, Texas, on a cotton farm which is still owned by the family today. He was a proud graduate of Texas A&M University where he received a degree in petroleum engineering. He was also a member of the A&M Corps of Cadets, as well as the Ross Volunteer Company honor guard. After graduation, he served as a Lieutenant in the United States Air Force and later held posts in England and Germany. After his discharge from the service, J. Fred moved to Plainville, Kansas, where he got his start in the oil business under the guidance of his uncle, Fielding Patrick Hambright, as an Oil & Gas Landman. The impressive breadth and substantial volume of his extensive work would eventually lead to his well-deserved induction into the esteemed Legacy Gallery of the Kansas Oil Museum, as well as the distinguished Kansas Oil & Gas Hall of Fame. Up until his passing in the year 2018, J. Fred was a prominent and influential staple in the Kansas oil and gas industry, successfully weathering the inevitable ups and downs that this dynamic industry is widely known for. There are very few individuals in the Kansas oil and gas sector who have not been profoundly influenced by J. Fred in some way. Many of the dedicated Kansas oil and gas professionals working today began their careers as landmen at J. Fred Hambright, Inc., where they gained invaluable experience and insights. The lasting legacy of J. Fred is truly vast, and the ripple effects of his influence will undoubtedly continue on for countless generations to come.
