Hambright Energy & Land Services has been operating in the oilfields throughout the Midwest for over 70-years. We have withstood the test of time in an industry that sees many come and go. We have accomplished this by maintaining our integrity and staying true to our word. We believe, the handshake still carries the trust and promise that it once did, and we value our honest reputation.

Our Founder
J. Fred Hambright
John Frederick Hambright, III (J. Fred), He was an active member of the American Association of Petroleum (now Professional) Landmen, with a CPL certification and service as the AAPL’s Secretary. His ads in the AAPL magazine stated that he was “Kansas’ Only Aggie Landman.” The breadth and volume of his decades-long work in the oilpatch would eventually lead to his induction in the Legacy Gallery of the Kansas Oil Museum, as well as the Kansas Oil & Gas Hall of Fame. Until his passing in 2018, he was a solid supporter of the Kansas oil and gas industry, as well as being active in running his own business and successfully weathering its ups and downs over many years.
J. Fred’s legacy can be seen in the many people who got their start working for him and who are now key players in the Kansas energy world. He truly was a cornerstone of the oil and gas industry in Kansas.
Christopher C. Bass
With nearly two decades of field and in-office experience in the land and energy industry, Chris has made significant contributions across the Mid-Continent and Rocky Mountain regions. Chris studied Business Administration with a focus on Management at Kansas State University and is actively involvement in several professional organizations, including the American Association of Professional Landmen, Wichita Association of Professional Landmen, National Stripper Well Association, Eastern Kansas Oil and Gas Association, and Kansas Independent Oil and Gas Association. Chris utilizes his expertise and network to foster impactful advancements and sustainable growth in the energy sector.
Jane L. Hornback
With nearly four decades in the land and energy industry, Jane has excelled in optimizing office efficiency, allowing energy leaders to focus on their core mission. Jane attended Fort Hays State University and Wichita Business College. Jane is an active member of the Wichita Association of Professional Landmen and serves as Vice President of the Wichita Region of the Desk and Derrick Club, showcasing her leadership and commitment. Her contributions continue to drive progress and innovation in the energy sector.
